Welcome to the reunion web site for Morse High School Class of 1981.
It's hard to believe it has been 30 years especially since we are all still 18…right? O.k...38 then! Who knew 30 years would go by in a flash! It seems like yesterday most of us were stressing over the SATs and deciding our next path in life! Now it’s our children and grandchildren! I recently read a quote that states, “The richness of life lies in the memories we have forgotten”…do you remember these?….
During our senior year, Chariots of Fire won the Oscar for Best Picture and Bette Davis eyes won a Grammy for Best Song. It also won a Grammy for best record (remember those)? The Smurfs and MTV made their TV debuts while Dallas was the most watched show. President Regan is elected as the 40th president and finally 52 American hostages being held in Iran are released after spending 444 days in captivity. President Reagan also appoints the first woman, Sandra Day O’Connor, to the Supreme Court and fires all striking air traffic controllers. It was a busy year! Walter Cronkite retires. The first mission of the space transport system (STS-1) or Space Shuttle, flew on April 12, 1981, ending a long hiatus in American space flight. This was also the first year that the word “Internet” was mentioned and IBM introduced its first personal computer, which ran a Microsoft operating system, MS-DOS. On the world stage, the events that captured the imagination included Lady Diana Spencer marrying Charles, The Prince of Wales. Gas cost a $1.25 a gallon (we will never see that again) and a new house was $78,220 (maybe we will see that again).
Some things have really changed and some things not so much! Let's walk down memory lane together during alumni weekend! Come join us the second weekend in JUNE for a fun weekend of events and catching up with each other. We have the whole weekend planned: Go to the events page to see details and be sure to click and RSVP!
